So, you have no one but yourselves to blame if you find yourselves now broke. Should have paid more attention to the happenings then thinking you were gonna get an extention to the intended time. With this said, why are so may people cussing A-Net when A-Net actually DID stick to the deal, just a bit earlier on beginning and end then was intended. Get over it.

Im afraid that doesnt really stand up. Its like getting details for a baseball game or other "event" that advertises a certain start time, only for you to get there and find out they moved it to 12 hours earlier.
People have every reason to expect time published by the company to be correct and rely on them, not to have to blame themselves...

Yeah I don't know what's up with that guy who says "Anet go to hell". I'm not at the point of saying that. I'd just quit before that happens. But right now I'm seeing a pattern here. The celestial pig controversy, saying there won't be any double party animal points, then there IS double points and people are making plans on short notice, and now there's no 3am PST showing of the Frog or anything. And no one knows what's going on or what to plan for.
Fortunately I did keep my party items even though I actually was convinced that there wouldn't be a double points weekend. I still have some left. I simply won't use them unless I have more than enough to finish the title on a double points event.
Like let's say I have 4,000 points to go. If I have enough to get 2,000 points, I'll save them for a possible double points thing in the future. But if I get more party items beyond that amount, I'll use them. I guess that's the kind of planning we have to do now.
DetreS I highly suggest doing the same until you have enough in stock to finish the title with or without a double points event.

as a general fyi to all board members, nobody cares if you're going to buy gw2. nope, not even anet.
if you recall, guild wars had no player base to migrate from, and it managed to draw 5 million players (ok, 3 million minus without the 2 million bots). there will be a new generation willing and able nerds standing by to pick up your sword and shield, and then subsequently whine bitch and moan about events and nerfs and how lactose makes them gassy. so stop beating your dead horse drum of hollow threats and realize that people make mistakes.
seriously. most of guru doesn't care about your 2009 shopping projections, and anet's not going to care if danalp doesn't buy gw2 because, frankly, for each old timer that quits two noobs will take their place. so stop complaining, and go back to farming raptors like you're probably going to anyway.
on topic, they most likely will extend the event like wintersday 2006, which also had it's fair share of problems.
hopefully no rollback, though...

"This very special event begins at Noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on Friday, April 4, 2008 and will run all weekend, ending at Noon Pacific (-7 GMT) on Monday, April 7, 2008. Starting on Saturday, April 5, The Frog's personal friend, The Rabbit, will host a series of final extravaganzas so big they span the better part of three days."
quoted from guildwars.com. So NO, the event DID NOT start EARLY. Drops started on friday, at noon pacific, animals appeared in town on friday at noon pacific. Frog started appearing on Saturday as expected. Everything DID end earlier though

Thing is when GW1 started, online gaming had been around but was still very very new to many people. By the time GW2 comes out, there are gonna be a LOT and I mean a LOT of choices. When people look at GW2, they will look at GW1 before deciding.

Actually, the event did start early. If you look at the wiki, you will see that two events happened at midnight and 3am early Saturday morning (it wasn't supposed to start until noon Saturday, like your post says). I know because I was there for one. They then stopped the event (no 6am or 9am events) probably because the start was a mistake. So technically, while it did start early, there were two events that never took place. At the very least we should be allowed to have those.
But I agree that we should cut the pitchfork and torch act until we have an official note in the morning.

If no such fix happens obviously its time for an Otter to wake up,realise it can talk and that it wants to throw a farewell party for Andrew. We could give it a really good name like "The Otter".

possibly, but I doubt it. I think people will rely on reviews from magazines, websites, etc, and then official propaganda. And box art.
most people understand that you can't judge a "II" by the "I". For example, consider the differences between
warcraft and warcraft II
diablo and diablo II
super mario brothers, II, and III
everquest, and everquest II
albeit, those all had fairly good predecessors, with the exception of warcraft.
conversely, you see things like the ps2 being one of the most popular platforms in america, yet they couldn't hardly give away the ps3.
I'm sorry, but I'm not going to base my game purchases on whether somebody is bitching about free fireworks or not. Yes, i understand that it represents the company, but I think few people will consider that during their purchase.

Ok, i stand down then.Did not know about the 2 "early" frog appearances. Still, for 2 extra Frog shows, they shouldn't have cut 4, and 10 hours of drops (drops did start on schedule iirc)

I understand what you're saying and I thank you for replying in a respectful manner. And no need to say sorry at all.
And I know this incident happening right now isn't the single thing that will affect GW2 sales. But online games like this aren't just about the game itself but how the staff keep things going. I think that's one of the things, not the only thing, but one of the things that will be looked at in new online games. And not just gamers but magazine reviewers and websites like IGN as well.

It sucks that the event ended earlier than was stated. But you people that are throwing tantrums are pathetic. How about we just calmly ask ANET to extend the event? Have people really become so rude and demanding?
